Namchi Indoor Stadium

Namchi is the administrative capital of South Sikkim and is considered the second most important urban area in the State. It is around 78 km away from Gangtok. The rapid developmental pace in South Sikkim in the past 22 years has necessitated matching infrastructure in and around Namchi to allow better administration and give benefits to the local people.

Melli, the entry point to south and west districts

Melli is major entry point for south and west districts of Sikkim. Hundreds of passenger and goods vehicles coming from neighbouring West Bengal cross into Sikkim through Melli border. Hence, a composite check post at Melli was crucial to screen entry of people and materials into south and west districts of Sikkim. The composite check post, designed and constructed by the Buildings & Housing Department, is a 5-storied RCC-framed structure with GI sheet roofing having traditional external designs. It was established at a sanctioned cost of Rs. 3.8 crore. The total plinth area of the building is 18,200 sq ft.
