UPGRADATION OF HALL, LIBRARY IN OLD SIKKIM HOUSE

New Delhi

The project to upgrade the hall and library in Old Sikkim House at New Delhi has commenced. The existing hall is being upgraded where all State functions are held in New Delhi. The project is also to provide a library and a reading room lobby where the visiting dignitaries can enlighten themselves about the cultural and philosophical lifestyle of Sikkim through books and artifacts displayed in the room.

TASHILING SECRETARIAT

Gangtok,East Sikkim

Aseparate project division was set up in 2012 for reconstructing the Tashiling Secretariat after the old secretariat suffered extensive damage in the earthquake of September 18, 2011. Tashiling Secretariat is the administrative centre of the Government of Sikkim. The division headed by a divisional engineer under Building & Housing Department is tasked to supervise the reconstruction of the Tashiling Secretariat. This is the first project in Sikkim where all structures are constructed with pile caisson foundations. The project started from September 2012. It has three main components Block A building: This building is a well-designed eight-floor RCC-framed building in the site of the old Secretariat. It is the first multi-storied building in Sikkim constructed with pile caisson foundation so that it is a more stable and earthquake resistant building. The building is constructed with a total built up area of 11,870 sq m with 6,970 sq m of office blocks. The structure has two level basement vehicle parking for around one hundred vehicles and the remaining six floors in the super structure will house the office of the Hon'ble Chief Minister, the offices of the Hon'ble Ministers and the offices of all important departments of the Government. Block B building: This seven-storied RCC-framed building is being constructed in the site of the old Sikkim Press which was relocated to Tadong. This building also has two level basement parking for around ninety vehicles and the remaining five stories will be used as office blocks. MULTI-SPECIALTY HOSPITAL

Sichey, Gangtok, East Sikkim

This is a mega-project to set up a 1000-bedded multi-specialty hospital at Sichey, Gangtok at a cost of around Rs. 475 crore. It will have the main hospital, an Annexe (VIP) block, AYUSH wing, radiotherapy block, auditorium, power substation, ANM and GNM blocks, and other healthcare facilities. It will have the following blocks accommodating several healthcare facilities. 1. The main Hospital block 2. Annexe block 3. 300 seat-capacity auditorium 4. AYUSH Block 5. Radiotherapy block 6. Existing Block No.1 7. Existing Block No.2 8. Existing Block No.3 Apart from the above mentioned blocks, the multi-specialty hospital also comprises of electrical sub-stations, underground water reservoirs, incinerator, Staff quarters, and Pump houses.

STATE MUSEUM

Gangtok,East Sikkim

The construction of a State Museum at Gangtok was sanctioned at a cost of Rs. 14.43 crore having a plinth area of 40,038 sq ft. It is a 5-storied RCC building with entrance lobby, interception centre, conservation unit, dehumidification unit, central reserve, staff hall, curator rooms, general section, office rooms, display gallery, audio visual room and library, and a viewing deck at 4th floor. Composite Building of Police Department Below Paljor Stadium, Gangtok The present headquarters of Sikkim Police Department is located along the NH 10 below M.G. Marg, Gangtok. With passage of time, it was observed that the present infrastructure is inadequate to meet the growing requirement of the police force. Also, the existing structure of the Sikkim Police located below the Paljor Stadium was in a dilapidated condition. There, it was necessary to construct a new composite building below Paljor Stadium. The upcoming composite building is a four-storied building with a total plinth area of 15,810 sq ft. The project cost of the building is Rs. 3.3 crore.

COMPOSITE BUILDING OF POLICE DEPARTMENT

The present headquarters of Sikkim Police Department is located along the NH 10 below M.G. Marg, Gangtok. With passage of time, it was observed that the present infrastructure is inadequate to meet the growing requirement of the police force. Also, the existing structure of the Sikkim Police located below the Paljor Stadium was in a dilapidated condition. There, it was necessary to construct a new composite building below Paljor Stadium. The upcoming composite building is a four-storied building with a total plinth area of 15,810 sq ft. The project cost of the building is Rs. 3.3 crore.

CHENREZIG SHINGKHAM

Pelling, West Sikkim

The Chenrezig Shingkham project is coming up as an iconic pilgrimage tourism destination at Sangha Choeling, Pelling. The mega-project mainly consists of construction, fabrication and installation of towering metallic statue of Chenrezig. The civil component works are laying the statue pedestal of 36 ft height and infrastructural amenities like approach parking, VIP parking, reception block, cafeteria, access steps, gallery, central courtyard, elevated walkway, Lunchengyet (serpent shaped waterbody), ground staircase, Loh-Bul-Thee (throne), circumbulatory path, Mane along the grand staircase, Mane House, site leveling and protective works, and internal and external electrification. The total cost of the project is Rs. 46.65 crore which is inclusive of non-tendered items. The project is stipulated to be completed by December 2017.The progress of work is within the schedule time. The final slab casting of the statue's pedestal was done on July 15, 2016 under the guidance of the Hon'ble Minister, Buildings & Housing Department.

SIKKIM HOUSE

Guwahati

With the inclusion of Sikkim into the North East Council (NEC), visits to Guwahati are regular for the Government officials and people of Sikkim. The State Guest House was constructed by the Government of Sikkim to provide accommodation facility for officials and VIPs on NEC duty and also for people from Sikkim visiting Assam and other Northeastern States. The Guest House is located at Khanapara area of Guwahati. It was set up at a cost of Rs. 4.1 crore over a plinth area of 11,957 sq ft. The Guest House was inaugurated in 2011 and is under the administrative control of the Home Department. Facilities at each floor are: A. Main Guest House Ground Floor: Dining, pantry, office, reception hall. First Floor: Six rooms with attached toilets. Second Floor: VVIP suite with dining room, office and security room. B. Quarters Ground Floor: Class-IV quarters (2 nos. x 2 BHK), garage, electrical room. First Floor: Class-III quarters (2 BHK) and Class-II quarters (3 BHK)

SIKKIM HOUSE

Salt Lake, Kolkata

Most of us who go to Kolkata for various purposes have made use of this facility at some point of time provided by the Government of Sikkim for the people of Sikkim. The Guest House located at the prime location in Salt Lake was built by the Government of Sikkim for people of Sikkim visiting Kolkata for medical, educational, personal or recreational purpose. It was also for government employees needing to halt at Kolkata for official works. The Guest House was constructed during 2010 at a total cost of Rs. 5.91 crore. It is a four-storied framed structure over a plinth area of 27,500 sq ft. It has a parking facility of 5,515 sq ft. Facilities at each floor are: Ground Floor: Reception entrance lobby, cybercafé, office room, staff quarters, electric sub-station, generator room and courtyard. First Floor: Eight double-bed rooms converted to two Class-I quarters, general kitchen, dining hall, storeroom, pantry and washrooms. Second Floor: Eleven double-bed rooms, one single-bed room. Third Floor: VVIP suites with living room, dining room, pantry, one VIP suite, one first class suite, conference hall, dining hall, security room with toilets.
